The inherent strain method for additive manufacturing: critical analysis and new inherent strain rate method

چکیده
Abstract To reduce computation time, the inherent strain (IS) method is popular. It consists in adding layers, at room temperature, with an “inherent strain” representing plastic deformation undergone during deposition. An IS developed, including a direct determination of tensor based on transient thermo-elastic-viscoplastic (TEVP) simulation. Validation achieved: taking full-field strains, allows retrieving TEVP predictions. However, application to full part, for which set strains must be conserved all along construction, leads poor results, far from TEVP. As alternative, new rate” (ISR) proposed, consisting linearizing resolutions. Combined on-line learning technique, this strategy results identical reference, still significant speed-up. This makes proposed ISR very promising.

The Inherent Strain Method for Residual Stress Determination and Its Application to a Long Welded Joint
In this paper, we investigate a relatively new method for determining three-dimensional sub-surface residual stress (Ueda, 1975). This hybrid experimental/analytical method determines the source of residual stress by sectioning and strain measurement, and then uses it to deduce residual stress in the original body. When certain assumptions about the spatial distribution of the source of residua...
متن کاملWelding Distortion Prediction in 5A06 Aluminum Alloy Complex Structure via Inherent Strain Method
Finite element (FE) simulation with inherent deformation is an ideal and practical computational approach for predicting welding stress and distortion in the production of complex aluminum alloy structures. In this study, based on the thermal elasto-plastic analysis, FE models of multi-pass butt welds and T-type fillet welds were investigated to obtain the inherent strain distribution in a 5A06...
متن کاملNonlinear Vibration Analysis of the Composite Cable using Perturbation Method and the Green-Lagrangian Nonlinear Strain
In this study, nonlinear vibration of a composite cable is investigated by considering nonlinear stress-strain relations. The composite cable is composed of an aluminum wire as reinforcement and a rubber coating as matrix. The nonlinear governing equations of motion are derived about to an initial curve and based on the fundamentals of continuum mechanics and the nonlinear Green-Lagrangian stra...
متن کاملAtrial Strain and Strain Rate: A Novel Method for the Evaluation of Atrial Stunning
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in adults. Atrial stunning is defined as the temporary mechanical dysfunction of the atrial appendage developing after AF has returned to sinus rhythm (SR). OBJECTIVES We aimed to evaluate atrial contractile functions by strain and strain rate in patients with AF, following pharmacological and electrical cardioversion and ...
متن کاملCorrecting the stress-strain curve in hot compression test using finite element analysis and Taguchi method
In the hot compression test friction has a detrimental influence on the flow stress through the process and therefore, correcting the deformation curve for real behavior is very important for both researchers and engineers. In this study, a series of compression tests were simulated using Abaqus software. In this study, it has been employed the Taguchi method to design experiments by the factor...
